The Ascroft name has been associated with growing local
produce in the Hesketh Bank area of Lancashire for many years.
Walter Ascroft senior began delivering potatoes to Preston from
Tarleton (a 30 mile round trip) with a horse and cart. In 1930
he started to grow his own cauliflowers and other vegetables.
Walter junior and Hugh Ascroft were the next generation to continue the family business, mainly taking produce to Liverpool wholesale market. Today the business is run by Peter & Mark Ascroft; Peter has become famous for the quality of his cauliflowers and the unique taste of his golden beetroots, while Mark delivers the produce to local outlets – restaurants, hotels, farm shops and fish and chip shops.
